Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? Blood 22

Blood 22.

Blood 22 Demons.......

We entered the Demons territory.
And, that's easily.

Of course, it doesn't mean that we pass through the border from the front foolishly and honestly.
The Demons territory borders with the empire, and the empire's forts are arranged in various places, so it's not a place where human can pass.
In order to enter the Demons territory from the Humans territory, it's necessary to avoid populated forts and pass through the fortress of nature that can't be passed usually.

The place where we passed was the steep mountain range that was called the Magic Mountain.
The mountain where the top of the mountain exists in a position that's far higher than the cloud.
I want to stop to try to travel on foot there with a light mood of going for a hike.
No, seriously.

On the way, we camp at the remains of the village that seems to be abandoned for several years, the master of the mountain-like Dragon came and Ariel-san negotiated with it, and Ariel-san and Master choose to run away unusually when the opponent is a strange monkey.
When we cross the Magic Mountain that's full of such happenings, it was the Demons territory already.
To be honest, it's too severe on the way that I don't feel so much.

In addition, it might be a reason that I was disappointed that the scenery seen is not very different from the Humans territory.
After all, when saying such thing like Demons territory, I imagined a hellish sight where it's covered with thick clouds the whole year by all means and the eerie atmosphere that plant doesn't grow.
In reality, the sky is blue, the plant grown in abundance in green, and the air is perfectly clear.
The magnificent scenery of nature that doesn't have much difference from the Humans territory.
If it's this, the Magic Mountain was a more demon boundary.

It seemed that the Demons territory also has the forts to prevent the invasion of the Humans similar to the Humans territory.
The blank zone between the Demons' forts and the Humans' forts often becomes the battlefield, and it's the most dangerous area in the world in a certain meaning.
When a suspicious character walks there, the person will be attacked just because of that, and moreover, I hear that it's an everyday occurrence that the battle can develop up to the war level.
Master who hears it looked disappointed though.
Master seems to might think that the Elro Great Labyrinth is more dangerous.
When I actually hear the past stories of Master, it seems to be more dangerous there, so it can't be helped.

After learning Appraisal, I didn't use Appraisal on others because Ariel-san stopped me up until now, but as long as I hear the story of Master and Ariel-san, as for the Humans' status, it's doubtful that it can reach 1000 even if it's high.
I would agree that the labyrinth where the monsters' status is several times higher than that is more dangerous.
In reality, which one is dangerous can't be judge by me because I don't have any combat experience and I have not seen both of it.

The present position of us who crossed the Magic Mountain is already passed the Demons territory's forts, so we don't have to pass through such a danger zone.
Although I thought that Master might charge, I'm relieved because there's no such state.

Well, even if we don't have to pass through such a danger zone, we advanced the trackless path though!
I think that the biggest reason why the scenery doesn't change in both the Humans territory and the Demons territory is because of advancing being buried in the DIE nature.
(TL note: DIE nature is a pun of 大自然(Daishizen) that means nature/Mother Nature/great nature)
In a view of a tiny person, the appearance of a big nature looked similar.

Because both Ariel-san and Master actually push forward without hesitation, I only chase after them without hesitation, but when it's said if it's only Merazofis and I can cross this nature or not, there's no confidence to advance without hesitation.
If we don't use the Clairvoyance and the Space Maneuver at the same time to check the present position and the destination always, we seemed to get lost immediately.

In addition, even if we don't get lost, when Ariel-san is gone, the monsters will also come near.
Although the wild monsters don't come near because of Ariel-san's Intimidation now, if Ariel-san is gone, naturally, the effect is lost.
And, when it's said whether Merazofis and I can handle the monster that came near, I don't have much confidence.
The monsters are the opponents that bring the risk of death even to Master.
Master can neither move her hand nor foot, ah, no, me who's hands and feet were eaten, it's impossible to win even if I fight with the monster.
Well, I don't think that a high rank monster that can have a hard fight with Master is common, and if it's only a small fry, I might be able to do something.

But, the monsters that I have seen so far, all have high status.
Because there are also times when Ariel-san defeats it before I can appraise it, I don't grasp everything, but it's always stronger than me.
The monsters in this world are strong to the extent that it's unbalance.
I'm admired that the Humans and the Demons didn't get destroyed.

How about the Demons?
Because we will enter the Demons' town in the future, but I wonder to what extent that they are stronger than the Humans?
Because they are called the Demons, after all, they have a devil-like appearance?
Had wings grown.
And, the skin is blue, and the fangs are long as we Vampires.
While it's scary to see, there's a little curiosity.

Like that, the travel advanced well while I'm deluding the Demons' appearance.
Because the surrounding scenery is the great nature that the people's hand is not added to it, it changes into that of the field.
There's a proper road, and we advance on that.
Ah, the road is good no matter how many times I experience it.
It's magnificent that it's not the DIE nature where HP decreases just by walking.

The people who harvest the field meet my eyes.
Oh?
Human?

「Ariel-san, there are Humans here, but here is already the Demons territory, right?」

I wonder if it's that?
The Humans captured in the war are made to engage in the labor for farming as slaves.

「Hmm? Humans?」

Because Ariel-san has a face that she doesn't understand the meaning of the words that I said for an instant, she looked around the surroundings, and her face became to have understood it.

「Ah. I see, I see. For the reincarnated people, the word Demons has the feeling that a devil-like appearance is imagined. I see, I see」

Ariel-san who consents alone.
Um, I want an explanation by now though?

「All of them over there are Demons」

Ariel-san says it while pointing at the people who are working in the field.
Eh?
But, no matter how I look at them, I can only see them as Humans.

「Both the Humans and the Demons can't be judged from the appearance alone. After all, the appearance is completely the same」

E-Eeh.
What's that?
Somehow, I feel terribly disappointed.
Like this, it's really no difference from the Humans territory.
It's not that the Humans and the Demons has great difference.

If their appearance the same then the fucking war is meaningless.

The subhuman is a biological creature, crafted by nature, which has hands, legs, eyes and mouth, even the semblance of a brain. Nevertheless, this terrible creature is only a partial human being.
Although it has features similar to a human, the subhuman is lower on the spiritual and psychological scale than any animal. Inside of this creature lies wild and unrestrained passions: an incessant need to destroy, filled with the most primitive desires, chaos and coldhearted villainy.

      A subhuman and nothing more!

Not all of those who appear human are in fact so. Woe to him who forgets it!
Mulattoes and Finn-Asian barbarians, Gipsies and black skin savages all make up this modern underworld of subhumans that is always headed by the appearance of the eternal Jew."

    12. It's really more of an innards difference, where they have different pluses and minuses.

Humans are "weaker" but breed more.
Demons are slightly more geared towards survival, but have a low breed rate.

... Which, I mean, if it's thought about seriously, the only and most vague reason they have to fight is the availability of titles and skills like "Demon King" and "Hero."

  2. I think the demons are just one of the possible evolution humans can reach at level 100.
Well the only fundamental difference between them and humans is there longer life span

    1. So in other words the current demons are just may be descendants of people who evolve before

    3. I mean even before system that can easily evolve them ?

    4. A human near level 100 would have to have rather high stats though.
Much higher than those of a demon at level one, so I don't think anyone would choose that evolution path. Isn't more like a human at level one can become a god?

      Delete
    5. the not naecessarily have to have evolved at level 100 :p
Like vampire is also called a special evolution, so the Demons, mit be something in the direction of "Sub.species", descendents of a founder like the taratects or our little Vampire :p

      Delete
    6. might have been like 1 Human evolved and gained the power to change his followers the same way he changed or give live to offspring of the same race :p

      Delete
    7. just saying "Übermensch", if you know what i mean :D

      Delete
    8. But here's the thing you have to remember.
Evolutions are nothing more than simply changing the race.(using magic)
It's not like they fundamentally get stronger than their base genetic nature.
In all honesty evolutions aren't that big of a deal as its played out to be.
Only difference between humans, elves, and demons is there life span and their magic amount.

Remember that the system is nothing more than support magic constantly being activated strengthening their base.
Take the support away and they return to just being mere mortals you will die if you stab him a couple times.
Even the dragons are nothing more than giant lizards.

And the biggest lie of the system was the whole "level" system itself.
Did you ever notice how incidentally always need to be the exact same level so they can evolve?
      10 for the first evolution
      20 the second evolution
      30 for the third and
      50 for the fourth evolution.
Way too precise and convenient to be indications of any real "power"
The levels themselves are nothing but an indication until the system "allows" you to change race
Evolution from the lowest to the highest was possible from the very beginning.
Since the very beginning of the story at any point in time it was possible for her to become an Arachne.

And also its possible for a level 1 person to have average 10,000 stats as long as they have enough magical power to support the body' strengthening

      Delete
    9. Or the Levels are adjusted to the amount of power you need to evolve ?
Say, if you need 1000 to become a greater Taratect and 875903 to become Arachne. Then you just define Greater Taratect as possible upon eraching level x and Arachne upon reaching Level y. Clean level up numbers don't mean even raises in power per level.

      Delete
    10. It's the system that performed the evolution not the person themselves.

And it's debatable whether they are really "evolution" or really just changing their genetic structure and their race.

This is secretly a very detailed system that D built.

Without the system even if thay evolved there just literally "another race"
      A " genetically different creature"
      Another "easily killable mortal"

      Delete
    11. System is a tool for easy access. It does some process like status automatically so for anybody who can actually do things by themself. these tools actually limit you a bit by stealing your power to do something you don't need. but for those who can't, it made them can.

      Delete
    12. It might be possible in theory, but what about the Stamina Point consumption? Say you evolved without enough stamina, wouldn't you die? Status appraised is more of an indicator then a support.

      Delete
    13. Stamina points are probably most likely just calories.
Standard point reduction probably just reduces the amount of calories you burn to the extreme lowest.

And you most likely need a lot of calories when am I going the evolution process

      Delete
    14. For everything lacking. The system will take the energy from MA area to fill the missing. You will finally give it back so it's kind of an investment.

      Delete
    15. Arnold, evolution is significant in how it changes the form and base characteristics a being. We've seen it. We've only seen monsters evolve but they often develop entirely new characteristics and organs. Your trying a little too hard to diminish the relevance of the system. It's not like the changes from evolution would vanish if they left the system. If changes made through the systems magic via evolution were the same as status(instant and continuous activation of a magic), Shiro's form would have reverted to the way she was born. It may not alter genes but genes don't really decided strength as much as gene expression, which it seems to work more with.

as for the meaning of the levels, you remember that experience points are actually the bits of broken soul you absorb from what you kill, right? If thought that way, level is one way of displaying how much total soul power you gather, which is true power in this story. It doesn't accurately display it, with the displayed level reverting upon evolution, nor does it represent the total of a persons soul, as there are other ways to strengthen your soul, but it is not irrelevant.

      Delete
    16. I never said anything about them changing if they left the system.

When I meant was that they return back to what the normal creature would be if it didn't get any assistance.

If a creature evolves to a dragon and then leave the system it's still a dragon it just won't have the skill boots and stats

      Delete
    17. to make it clear, a quick and dirty explanation of gene expression.

Basically, your DNA doesn't differ much from your genetic relatives (monkeys, dogs, etc). What makes you so significantly different is mostly the result of what genes are currently ACTIVE. Different genes will be displayed based on different stimuli, causing different muscles, organs, and other tissue to grow. You could say that a goblin has the same or similar genes to a hobgolin or oni. The evolution from status magic would merely activate the genes that make an oni bigger, stronger, with a better immune system compared to a goblin. However, its this activation that is important.

    20. Arnold, I'm saying that the system evolution DOES affect their base abilities or, more accurately, that levels and evolution still represent strength, growth, and change. It's just that skills have the greatest effort to return ratio.

The change from evolution and the gathered soul power from level are still significant, whether you use the system or not. It's not meaningless, it's the same power you use, god or not.

    22. This is not relevant to the conversation above but I forgot to add it.

Since most people don't have appraisal they can't see most of their skills And skills are actually "on" and "off" effects.
Unless it's purposely turn "on" its usually "off"
Just having the skills necessarily give you benefits unless you have it "on"
Because it's been said that constantly leaving skills "on" will usually give people bad headaches
Shiro "never" turned off her skills. Each and every one she got she had constantly turned on from beginning to end.
And they're only usually turned off if she purposely needs them off such as when she's going into stealth mode

This in addition to ruler skills like pride made her gain skill levels overwhelmingly faster than other people.

This is the secret to her immense growth rate

    2. I think the reason the reincarnations are so strong is that they are fundamentally aware of how the world works a little (in a video game sense)
And since they can start their actions early from childhood their growth rate is fundamentally greater

    5. All in all the entirety of the "status system" is all a big lie away.

Even if you are level 1 it's possible to reach 10,000 stats as long as you have enough magic power to perform the strengthening on your own without system assistance.

The fact as long you know how it works you can even surpass the maximum level 10 by doing it on your own

      Delete
    6. No not really. Even though the system is a lie, it's not like you can ignore stats. In the end, even if you can use magic without the systems assistance your power will still be limited by the amount of your magical power with will be correctly displayed by the MP bar. Isn't it because you can't ignore the system that Kumoko tried so desperately to rise her stats even though she knew how to produce magic without the systems assistance?

    7. Arnold , Ithink that reaosn of "Knowng how the world works" from games only applies to the 3 guys that take a big part in Mainstory
(Kumo, Katia, Shun) because the otherguys, like the adventurers are only a little stronger than regular Adventurer . They and Yuugo (thats bithc) only have an advantage thanks to the phantasmagoric amount of skill points they got shoved into their butts.

      Delete
    8. Just look at what a weak fuck yuugo is,when he has to work on his own, he didn´t even train the skills he stole, that just shows thatd he didn´t get how you have to play it, while Kumo was a pro gamer, which explains why she can butt-fuck anyone of these noobs.

    9. Oblak7

Magic power in this series comes from the soul not the body.
And the soul just seems to be producing magic endlessly.
The specific energy from the soul is then divided to different parts where it's needed.
MP is most likely how much the "body" can store

And the systems job is pulling out the energy from the soul have properly dividing it to the parts where it's needed.
And since most people aren't going to be conscious of their soul thay rely entirely on their bodies stored amount of magic

      Delete
    10. About the reason why the reincarnated students are stronger than everyone else. Couldn't it have something to do with the n%I=W skill? D said something about the skill enabling the students to keep their soul's power...

      Delete
    11. Arnold
Like you said in this world the true power is the power of the soul.
The souls power is than used to fuel the spells that are the skills, resistances and other stats. The remaining disposable energy of the soul then would be displayed as MP. I don't think you can use more power of your soul than the system allows you to. Probably it would be too much of a strain and it would kill. Also if the system could be ignored Kumoko wouldn't have bothered with leveling. Not herself nor Sophia.

      Delete
    12. While it's possible to ignore, it is fundamentally a whole lot easier to rely on the system.
That's why she religiously puts an emphasis on acquiring skills and raising them to their utmost highest level.

And incidentally I think the skills subconsciously teach you how to perform the action.

Just because it's "possible" for someone to do it, doesn't mean they knoy necessarily know how to do it.
The skills work in a way of training wheels teaching someone how to ride a bike. Or a tutorial cheating somehow how to perform an action.

Also when shiraori became a god she couldn't even call herself a noob god unless she had the basic course of God installed

      Delete

    5. because she often tells that she almost die by monsters. I think it actually says "Monsters brought risk of death even to master."

    6. Well, it's not a mistranslation (only bad phrasing). She got a very scary impression of mosters based on how Shiro described them. Shiro has however forgotten to mention that she's gotten much stronger since than.
I don't think she assumes that Ariel is stronger than Shiro. You're probably just reading too much into it. At the very least I didn't get that impression while reading the raws. Besides in the '3 years' chapter she aknowledged both Ariel and Shiro to the same degree.

    7. Besides she never said that Shiro would actually lose. Just that
'Monsters are opponents that even Master faces mortal danger.'
It seemed to me that she's simply overestimating the monsters strength and not underestimation Shiro. And she later added that she doesn't think that monsters that would give Shiro trouble are all that common.

  13. Forgot to add this above
